BlenderArtists.org HistoryBlenderArtists.org, then called elYsiun.com, was founded in 2000 by Timothy Kanters and Jude Aakjaer as a small forum where users of the free 3D creation suite Blender could talk about their favourite program and get support if they had a problem with it. In the year 2001 however, things drastically changed. The company behind Blender, the dutch "Not a Number", went bankrupt and the Blender community was stranded as the Not a Number website was shutdown. As one of the only other Blender forums on the net at the time, elYsiun.com quickly became a refuge for Blender users and grew larger day-by-day. After Blender was released as an opensource project in 2002, elYsiun.com kept it's role as the main forum for user-related problems with Blender. In 2005 elYsiun.com changed it's name to BlenderArtists.org, to better communicate it's relations to the Blender community and also to provide a starting point for a new and improved community site containing links to tutorials, news and Blender-related articles. In 2006, Timothy Kanters ended his involvement in the BlenderArtists website and Roel "Goofster" Spruit became the official owner and maintainer of the site. Today, BlenderArtists has a growing userbase of over 20,000 registered users and continues to expand it's service to encourage a healthy and active Blender User Base. Supporting BlenderArtistsBlenderArtists is mainly dependant on the involvement and support of Blender users all around the world. Without our large number of registered users we would not be able to keep this website running, financially and content-wise. If you want to help out, we are very open to outside help.
