Hi,
I`m trying to get a realistic lighting in my scene and tried some different methods... but I still dont understand where does the light underneth of the objects come from?

this pic was made with a sky dome ad dupliverted spot lights. The apple lies on the plate! Even when I just rendered with a spot light and a hemi light, it looks like the fruits were floating...

any ideas?

thanks in advance
Vince

Yes the GI is to powerful and erases the shadows from the ordinary light wich makes it look wicked.

Don't use a spotlight. It sucks for your type of rendering. Use an AREA lamp and set the samples to 3 for soft shadow edges. More samples equal softer edges (and more rendering time).

Adjust the Area Lamp's size and the source size too (under the square setting). Use an Energy of 2.8 for starters.

Try these settings:
- Use YAFRAY
- XML turned off
- Auto AA turned on
- Clamp RGB turned on
- Method = SkyDome
- Quality = Low

EVERYTHING ELSE, leave as the default settings.

Thanks for your help! I`m still trying... the yafray render takes years, and I have to adjust all the bumb settings...:-( oh, he just finished: 23:24 ! And it still looks like there is a light under the apple !?
I guess I will have to mess around some more with these settings...
