Hi Guys,

Outside of Blender I extensively have been using Realsoft 3D. This app has been around since the Amiga Days like Lightwave. For current info:

www.realsoft.com (http://www.realsoft.com)
www.realsoft.info (http://www.realsoft.info)

www.3ddart.org/ (http://www.3ddart.org/)
Its up to version 5 at the moment, ver 6 is imminent. BUT if you want to add this to your toolkit:

The full Version of Realsoft 3D Version 4.2 can be downloaded at http://www.urob.de/public/Realsoft3DV42.zip

EDIT: FREE REGISTRATION:
================================================== ===============================

Go Here:

http://www.realsoft3d.de/digipro/mod...91;0;0&FMODE=1 (http://www.realsoft3d.de/digipro/mod_form_v3a.asp?NAVI=8983908371106191;0;0&FMODE=1)

This is a form for a German magazine promo to get your free serial. Fill in the form like so:

Nachname - Surname
Vorname - First Name
SKIP FIRMA

Which I assume means thanks, your serial is in the mail :)
And yes - IT WORKS - I got the serial TWICE when testing!

This is an edit on the first post as I neglected earlier to try the process myself - apologies, tut, tut!

I love its SDS [ SubDiv ] features and fast modelling. The Renderer is top class too. Have a look at Tim Borgmanns site for soem really nice renders:

And Roberts Site for tutes etc:

http://members.chello.nl/rbroeder/

AND the Realsoft IRC is at Quakenet - #realsoft3d. Im usually their as bobthe3Dbuilder, drop in!

Looks interesting, I'm downloading it now. Hadn't heard of it at all:eek:

Hi Blenditall,

Make sure you drop to the www.realsoft.com (http://www.realsoft.com) and have a look at the downloads page and the latest demo V5. Its full for 30 days, no limits. This to compare with v4.2 which is older. Obviously things have come on a good bit since v4.2 BUT the latter is still nice for modelling and the renderer is good too.

Drop into the RS IRC also if you want some hints and tips or general chat. Quite a few guys in the IRC are also BLENDER Users, some have written Blender Scripts also. I am always trying to plug Blender there and ways to have operability between both.

Realsoft is a little different in the way it does things, but stuff like its shader language [ VSL ] is highly open and in advanced mode its highly programmable for those that way inclined. Its also had NGONS for a very long time [ Support for greater than 4 sided polys ].

In the past Realsoft used to called Real3D Or Real [ amiga days ]

Realsoft would be very well regarded, but is low key and an underdog.
May see ye at the IRC [ Me Bobthe3Dbuilder there ], Quakenet - #realsoft3d.

Cheers
Aidan

Yes I should have said that Realsoft is also available in LINUX Flavour also - price wise cheaper I think.

AND - No I am not working for RS, just like the app and said I would alert fellow Blenderers of its existence,

Cheers

So this will render nurbs? As in .....natively?

Hi Goosey,

Yip - Realsoft has strong NURBS and also SDS [ Subdiv ] tools and also analyticals. All in one app. Be prepared for a different approach generally, I find that tha nav is close to Maya.

Cheers,
Aidan

I think this is commercial Package?

I used to use realsoft 3D years ago, so I shall download it to see what it's like now. Realsoft 3D was a really solid 3D app then, with a great deal of features.

I am downloading 4.2 now. However, there is something on the site saying about serial number, but I cannot find my way around (It is in Swedish language, I guess - I am smart, but not THAT smart). Is registration absolutely necessary?!?

Yes registration is absolutely necessary if you want a full working version. I used FoxLingo to translate the web page ( German to English ) and successfully received an E-mail with Serial.

Yes it is a commercial package, but the reason I started this thread is because v4.2 is free to download. I apologise about the serial thing, did not know one had to register, but still thats FREE too for very small effort. This is the only link I know of with the free version.

You will also notice that it is mentioned at Boris'es contest forum for anyone with the free version to take part in competitions. [ http://www.3ddart.org/ ]

Remember that 4.2 is an earlier version of REALSOFT3D. To get a better idea of whats currently on board download the 30 day full demo from the downloads section at www.realsoft.com (http://www.realsoft.com)

The Realsoft 3D community is a relatively small community [ to the big apps ] - but as I said earlier alot of the users have been on board since the Amiga Days. And alot of them are users of BLENDER also.

I tossed the page into Babelfish the other day and downloaded the program. Tried to install it, and it requires a serial number... I searched around the German forums, and on Google and could not find the serial number.

I mean, C4D, Modo, ZBrush, MOI, Maya, Nuke, Macromedia/Adobe suite, etc; all let you at least try the software, with the option of adding a serial number.

If I had to vote, I'd say this software sucks. Just kidding. Since I could not find the serial number, I actually lost interest in ever trying this software... Theres plenty out there...that don't nag for cash, without supplying at least a demo serial number.(C4D lets you try it...And I doubt that RealSoft compares)

If you are too lazy to get your free serial # just put in DEMO in the serial box... That will enable a 30 day demo.

Hi Snosoe,

Yip True, but I just did that reg process - takes about 10 seconds, look at your email a few seconds later - tada, serial number.

I also noticed [ going through my 3DWorld Mag / Digit Mag CD's from past issues, that issue 75 of 3DWorld mag has version 4.5 free on the cover disk WITH serial. this for anyone who happens to have a copy in their archives. Unfortunately its not online - for 'personal use' only. However I am going to email Vesa at the Realsoft Mothership and see if he can make the free version process a little more direct and in English somewhere at the RS site maybe,

Cheers
