UV has holes all over it: quads shown as triangles

Hello all,

Trying to work out why my UV-map has triangles where it should have quads. I have attached some images of the UV map as well as the model itself. The ‘triangles’ it is showing are large flat areas, that are quite clearly quads.

I can’t work out what could be wrong here :S

Also, an easy question: how can I save the UV-map? For some reason my Python scripts aren’t working, but surely there is an easy ‘save’ feature somewhere :S Having trouble finding it.

Also, are there any UV-mapping tutorials on the latest versions of Blender? all the ones I’ve seen are pretty obsolete.

Thanks

Hi Gedditoffme,

I think this is a normal problem, in edit mode select all your quads
and press CTRL-N which should recalculate your normals outside.

Hope this helps?

heh, I’m sure I tried that heaps, but maybe when you told me to it worked :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks. Body is perfect.

I’ve still got to work out why the head has an odd ‘leg’ poking out of it (it’s shown in the image above, where part stretches off above, then way out into the body), but I assume that is probably due to seams (and worst case, i can just not worry about it, probably a minor issue).

Thanks for the help.

Hi Gedditoffme,

No worries glad it worked this time. Something to try regards
your spike issue. Select all vertices in edit mode and click
Remove Doubles. Also check for stray edges/faces.
