How do I make my Gimp brushes larger?

I hate posting such a n00b question, but looking through the Gimp manual and program I can't find anything that makes the brushes affect a larger area than 20x20 pixels. Is the feature not there, or am I missing it?

you need to choose a bursh with the option for that...

    umm

okay, create a new brush (press new button) and select it, and press edit button. tweak to your liking
For fast-acting relief, try slowing down.

    Thanks!

Never thought I'd need new brushes before.

Gimp needs a hotkey that lets one adjust brush size on the fly.
