Finally I back to work again on another project and I want to share my progress with you. This time I’m modeling a Fox and I’m planning to put her in a nature scene. But for now, I just want finish the modeling of the character. So here is my progress until now…
Too skinny, back is too arched, head needs to arch up. Unless you are going to add tons of fur, obviously the tail needs to be way bigger. Legs seem too long. Fox’s are pretty short.
I back to work on this model after a while, here some polish I’ve done in modeling. I also modeled inside the mouth, teeth and tongue. Next time I post an picture because it’s not rigged yet…
The snouts and heads of dogs/wolves/foxes really canines in general are all so similar, the distinguishing characteristics really come down to the snout width and eye placement.
Keep it up, you are going to have a nice model here.
I agree with 3dementia, however, sometimes simple camera angle may trick the eyes of the viewer a bit. Since this is a work in progress, I encourage you to show multiple views of your entire work in progress, this way, we can see better and help better, as well as admire more
Jean, thank you! Me too, can’t wait to start put some hair! Yes sir, I’m posting more views now.
3dementia, If you give a more specific critique, what part is looking like cat, it would help. And that wire I post, its without subsurf. Thanks for comment.
If you are planning to animate this fox… or even pose it much beyond the modeling position, I’m concerned that you will run into deformation issues at the body leg junctions.
The attached image (very roughly) depicts a layout that I think would allow a more natural form in that area at high levels of deformation. The biggest change would be to provide a curving face loop that defines the junction in a way that follows the foxes natural form. This same concept should also be used on the front “shoulders”.
Personally I think the ears are too big for it size, and there is something that makes it look more like Anubis (ancient egypt dog-looking god) rather than a cute fox. Hmmm…
