Falcon - 3d model and animation

Hello everyone,

it’s been a while since I’ve posted any finished projects (the Dandelions I’ve submitted days ago were just a quick test like scene) so here’s the one for closing the year 2011.

The model and a animation is a result of cooperation with young, Canadian director – Jared Pelletier who is responsible for creating a short movie (Halo – Faith), basing on a very popular video game. Our studio has been chosen for creating the aircraft models, which would be later composed into both the CG animation and live action footage.

Here’s the link to the main film production: http://www.facebook.com/HaloTheMovie

Finished model turnaround:

The animation was made using both free and commercial software. 3D models, environments and the whole animation were created using Blender. Editing and post-production jobs were done inside Adobe’s After Effects and Premiere Pro. We’ve prepared the material in HD standard (1080p) and used Dolby Digital and DTS systems for sound purposes. It took us 4 weeks to close the whole project.

Finished animation:

If you’d like to download the model and textures, watch the making-of video, or read the modeling tutorial, visit the site we’ve prepared especially for this purpose:

The process of creating the desert scene has been also covered in Issue 35 of 3D Artist Magazine:

We know that the animation has some issues, still there’s happiness that we’ve managed to find some extra time after dealing with daily duties, and finish this project once and for all

C&C are always welcome

Not to get repetitive or anything, but I agree this is really stunning work. I actually read the tutorial on this a little while ago, pretty sure it was this model, and found it to be very informative. Thanks for the wonderful visuals and a well done tutorial.

Best of luck with the movie!

Thanks guys for your comments, it’s great to know that you find the project looking good

As for the lights - the glare/glow/etc. Effects were created inside After Effects by using some of the standard filters.
