Fashion : graduation project using Blender for garment design

After 5 years at the Willem de Kooning Academie, Rotterdam, the Netherlands studying fashion design. I’m proud to present my graduation project, using Blender as an design tool ,instead of commercial software with the focus on garment design, allowed me to have to have such freedom. I used a lot of Addam Dominec’ unfold script, I would like to add some real-life stretch parameters. But for this “test” it did his work. in 2 weeks 30th there is a fashion show in Rotterdam with my work opening the show, I still have to make 2 jackets in real fabric and an animation for the intro.

That’s cool. I’d never guess garment design has anything to do with paper models, but the approach seems to be effective indeed. At least for clothes made of plastic

What do you mean by “real life stretch parameters”?
And by the way, why did you post in the WIP section? This definitely looks like a finished project…

Yes, your paper model script was the way for me to Unfold meshes it very cool!, And it surprised me how good the fit of the clothes are, the company 4ddynamics did some good quality 3d body scans for me. Here is an example of commercial garment software to “flatten” 3d to 2d from Optitex http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OntwTikuUgM , “real life stretch parameters” its bad English, I think I meant something like a way to get more round seems, sort of subserv, like in this image http://www.filebuzz.com/software_screenshot/full/243006-MeshFlatten_for_Rhino.jpg it looks like the metal got some stretch, it bends maybe I’m wrong. The project is still running for 2 weeks so it’s still a little bit in progress, I spent a lot of time sewing past weeks , but first did a lot of 3d design and experiments I’m going to try a little animation for presentation of the 3d works , so that’s why I posted in WIP ,still want to boost the quality of the 3d models renders. But thought it was time to post maybe to late for WIP indeed , Thanks for your reply !

Ziet er allemaal top uit… Wel geslaagd toch?
