Possible to add decals to your model with empties in Cycles?

Maybe I’m not thinking this through.

Somebody elsewhere came up with a great solution using UV attributes along with a UV projection modifier on the empty.
Thanks for both answers.

Cool, that way is much simpler than setting up drivers.

Im still having trouble with it.
The decal is showing up on the opposite side of my model no matter how I unwrap it.

That’s a limitation of this decal placing method.
