For a while I’ve wanted to make a 3D lander game, but never got around to it (Due to DEEP Space). Well, BGMC7 came up and the theme was sky (and I thought I could spare a weekend). So I made a lander-like game in 3D.
This game is multi-texture mode. How I wish I had GLSL though…

Licence notes:
All models, textures and code in this game are made by me (exceptions below) and can be used for any project you like under the WTFPL.
Woot, new high score: 6492.
The platform was placed off to the side just below where I was. I rotated and landed without having to change the throttle at all.
Anyway:
I’ve added some sounds, it really helps with gauging the thruster’s power. I’ll add an indicator on the HUD, and then perhaps another sound or two (clang when you land the platform, explosion etc) and then make another release. (so sorry, not update yet)
Hmm, a ‘stop’ button, what’s wrong with just tapping the opposite turn or opposite burner? Yeah, you’re going to say that it drifts sideways and you can’t control that direction. Well, that’s the fun bit. You have to turn to face the motion… Oh, and if you juggle the space and forward/backward thrust, you can do a loop! Great fun if you don’t get stuck upside-down.
Why must everything involve shooting? After my DEEP Space and this are finished, I’ll be challenging myself to make a game where there is no dying or anything.
But yes, I thought of adding a mode where you start on a platform, go to the next platform, refuel, difficulty up, go to the next platform, refuel, difficulty up…
The problem is caused by using blender 2.66. For some reason this game only works in 2.63-2.65.
Here’s a video showing what a landing on difficulty 10 looks like for me:
I’ll need to play the newer version. Sorry sdfgeoff, I didn’t realise that 2.65 was needed for the game to work as you intended it. Maybe for the next competition Josip could set a version that contestants need to use. Downloading lots of different versions of blender to play a couple of games seems like the long way round.
Played the game in 2.65 and it works really well. I’ve never played a ‘lunar landing’ type game, but this was great. Especially for a weekend(ish) game. Nice work dude.
