CG Cookie - Robot Contest - Armored Medic Robot

Here are the finished renders for my entry into the CG Cookie Robot Contest.

Link to contest entry:

She is a lightly armored, forward line combat medic robot. It was a lot of fun building this. I really liked putting a concept together that would be unique and challenging. Here are the specifics:

Blender 2.68a
Cycles Render
Texture Painted in Blender
Lighting and background in Blender
Text added in Post Production using Photoshop CS6
Inset added in Post Production using Photoshop CS6
1200 x 1200 Render Size

Thanks for looking.

I dig it.

These are just different angles; lighting, staging and composition are the same.

That’s really sharp. Work like that makes my own efforts seem so inadequate.

Hey, thanks to you both for the compliments. Appreciate it!

@SaltyCowdawg, don’t be hard on yourself. I’ve been using Blender for many years (since before it had an “UNDO” function!..wow…). If I were giving advice I would say 10 easy steps (5, 7 & 9 can be swapped back-and-forth):

  1. Inspiration
  2. References
  3. Modelling
  4. References
  5. Refining
  6. References
  7. Texturing
  8. References
  9. Rigging
  10. Output (then double-check your references!)

So keep modelling and keep Blendering (Blending?). It’s just a matter of learning and doing over-and-over-and-over again. Have fun!

nice professional work and very good advice.

Ha Windows 8 screen on it. Good one!

Thanks for the replies!

@PhoenixSmith, yes, she is a “MODERN” robot…so yeah…Win8. :slight_smile:
