To run linux build:
You might need to install dependencies like python 3.4 and boost from your distribution packages (probably all listed here.... http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/De...s_installation )
I have put some additional libraries into the build, which i compiled myself using install_deps.sh (in blender sources)
If you have the dependencies installed, you should be able to run the "blender.sh" shellscript inside my build, this sets the LD_LIBRARY_PATH to ./lib and runs the blender executable with that parameter. I tested this here locally and this should work.

attempt to create sub-objects by referencing a group of "child" objects within the modifier, but customdata transfer (like textures) wont work for some reason
for quite some time i am working at a fracture modifier in blender.
It is intended to be a better version of cell fracture which avoids to create many, many separate objects as result.
This is bad because it clutters the outliner and makes blender slower this way.
And its harder to handle and manipulate so many objects at once.
Another advantage is, all fracture operations act as modifier, and are non-destructive.
This means the original object and geometry remains untouched.
