Mist Pass with Smoke?

Hi guys,

Im currently working on this scene. I use the mist pass obviously for mist, by blending in the environment. But the problem is, that the waterfall appears in the mist pass, and because of this, the waterfall gets the colour of the background. Anyone got an idea how to solve this?

I don’t understand why the waterfall is rendering white in the mist pass. I would have expected it to have about the same value as the cliff it’s on…

Maybe you would be best rendering it on another render layer, masked by the mountain/trees layer, and just composite it over the rest of the scene.

Hi, I’m having the same issue here. I have a scene with some clouds and I’d like to use the mist pass to use it as Z-Depth and add DOF in AfterEffects in post production. The issue is that since the cloud appears to be white in the foreground, after effects will read it as a background object. Have you guys found a solution to this?

I know a lot of time as passed but I thought I’d give it a go.
