Delete Prompt

I’m an experienced 3ds Max user for many years and have recently switched to Blender. One thing I’m having trouble getting used to is the delete prompt that pops up every time I want to delete something. I’m blown away by many features in Blender in comparison to Max (all the more so considering the price!) but I have no idea why this delete prompt is there lol. It’s really annoying. Is there a simple way to disable it? Thanks in advance.

You can delete without confirmation in the outliner

For some background why there is still a confirmation for object deletion see

Others of us would just say if you delete an object by mistake, that’s why there’s an Undo button

I quite like it actaully, especially as the X key is a delete shortcut… and is also used a lot when selecting axes, so easy to hit by mistake. Without the prompt, it would be easy to X delete something, and not notice until it’s too late to undo. Another option would be to get rid of using X as a delete shortcut and just use the delete or backspace keys which have a much more clear function and aren’t invoked as part of other operations.

The other one I seem to be forever hitting by mistake is Z, when I forget to hit R first.

Thanks for the script. I see it in the addons and checked the box and hit save user settings but I’m not seeing it in the input tab. The only thing that comes up is Delete With Reconnect. Could it be because I’m running Blender 2.73?
