Maximum Number of Major Segments in a torus

Hello,
I am fairly new to blender so I dont know if what I am asking is even possible or not. I have a need to increase the number of Major segments in a torus ring past 256, however I cannot, it maxes out at 256.

Can anyone assist in telling me how I get this? I need it to be 500

why would you need to go so high ?

just add subsurf to whatever level you need !

another way would be to get the Math 3D for a torus and use the addon for math
and make a torus !

another way add a circle with as many segments and use the spin tool !
