How to texture and animate slow-mo guitar strings

Hey guys,

Quick tip I found while playing with the lattice modifier recently.
I wondered a while ago how could guitar strings could be animated in an accurate way.
I think the lattice modifier is a very easy solution, and on top of that: it makes it very easy to have a physically accurate wave.
(Edit: and it works with curves too)

The wood is actually a pixar texture from pixar 128 library.

Here is a very quick animation to demonstrate:

The lattice setup:

This is where it can be taken a step further: you could record any sound in Audacity for example, zoom in, caption it, and use it to replicate the shape of the wave with the lattice very easily - which I didn’t have time to do here.
(Edit 2: Don’t forget to use weight paint and enter the vertex group in the lattice modifer), so that the base of the string doesn’t move)

And finally just a quick and easy steel string material:

I hope this was worth sharing!
Feedback and ideas apreciated as always
