The model took me a little over six months to make since i’ve been busy with a lot of other things and the final vertice count (with the edge split modifier) was 433968.
Unfortunately i’m not the best with materials or setting up renders so these pics will have to do for now:
((((I’ll try to upload the blend file somewhere if people want to give this model a shot since i’m likely going to abandon it now that I finally finished it.))))
If you’re not intentionally going for a certain artstyle and want to make it photorealistic, I think the lighting/shading is a little flat. I think youre extensive and awesome modelling deserves maybe some HDR lighting to pop and make way for reflections!
And for Proud: “maybe some HDR lighting to pop and make way for reflections!”
I agree with you completely but like I said i’m not great with rendering and such in blender which is why I’ve provided you all with the blend file (http://www.mediafire.com/download/7in2olh2wlcp4g4/M1911A1.zip) so you can give the model a shot yourself!
My render
Took some liberties on materials and played around (as usual a little too much) with smoke simulation. Lighting setup is an HDR image and a sun lamp. Materials are mixes between glossy and diffuse shaders with a noise-generated bump map. Hope you like it!
I once was thinking of doing something similar, but after I saw the amount of parts I got a bit turned off ny the idea, so kudos for pulling this off. Very nice work.
