which engine renders faster for cartoon stlye?

hi, since there’s new features of the freestyle, i thought to try out to make some complex sequences that utilities a hand drawn style (type of thing)

but the thing is, i’ve got a slow computer, and i’d like to know which engine renders faster? but keep in mind that i’ve never actually used blender internal before, came in just when cycles first came out (but it doesn’t look too hard)

does one engine has more support of different features of freestyle too?

thankyou

Blender internal is better suited and quicker for cartoony stuff. Just learn internal, it’s not really that big of a difference.

Personally I’d use cycles. It’s up to you.

As far as I know freestyle is complex, but the results are solid since that’s exactly what it’s made for. I have a couple of animations on my blog (https://kogomat.wordpress.com/2015/08/18/logo-animation-in-blender/), though most are cycles-based. I don’t really know how good BI is for cartoons but it is definitely faster and much less noisy than cycles. I strongly advise against using the latter - it’s a photorealistic engine, meaning that’s about as far from what you want as you can possibly get.

I have just yesterday, though, learned of a new blender project (or branch, not sure what), called GlassHalf, which is completely cartoonish aaand I’m biased against because of gibberish… anyway, if you can find out more of how it was made I’m sure you’ll get a good idea of what you can/should do.
