transparency fade with glsl

sorry for this scrub question, but the object color thing won’t work with glsl, and when i apply a black texture and try to find how to fiddle with the alpha channels, i do not know how. however, if it is anything like the z transparency setting under materials, the keyframes won’t show up in the action editor, so i am not sure how to make an action out of those.
