Continuing my Kitegame

Hello,

after 4 years of absence I decided to continue the development of my kitesurf game.

First of all, I cleaned the whole chaos I had.

Improved the graphics, removed many bugs (the game doesn’t crash anymore), improved physics etc.

Next step will be the implementation of some unhooked freestyle moves, some grabs, crashing etc. moves and alternate levels.

Still a long way to go!

looks pretty nice. i am wondering if the game could cover windsurfing too regarding your solution simulating wind.

Hey cool! did you know that kite-surfing is in the Olympics this year?

Really? did they finally enforce it? they have been debating about the Olympics for some years already.

@jester elly: unfortunately that will be hard to do, since there is no actual “wind” it just simulates the behavior of the object as if it would be in the wind. So for windsurfing it would use a whole different approach.

I continued development with new control mechanics and added some grabs for freestyle:




So, here’s a little update on the WIP.

-Playermodel has now hair, an harness and Boardshorts.
-Pull of kite is simulated while in the air. (player gets dragged)
-Added unhooked mode (for the ones who don’t know much about kitesurfing: you can ride with the kite hooked to your harness or unhook temporarily to do some crazy maneuvers which are of high difficulty)

Unhooked tricks so far:
–danglepass
–Raley
–S-Bend
–313/Blind Judge 3
–Backmobe/Frontmobe
–F16

-Animations clipping Bugs solved
-Rider sinks if too slow
-Reverse start of the kite (when kite lies face down on the water you can reverse relaunch the kite by pulling both backlines)
-And probably other fixes which I don’t remember right now…

But still a long way to go

Next steps will be adding more unhooked and probably some more hooked tricks to the game.
Displaying all the tricks in the HUD
Adding a point system to the game
Implementing a crash system, hooked and unhooked
Adding a Kite-leash
And when all the fundamental stuff is in I can finally start adding more content like levels, improving graphics, maybe different weather conditions etc.

But that’s all still a long way off…
