Timelapse - show metadata date from file in image seq? Or filename?

Putting together a timelapse from photos taken during many years. Is it possible to somehow extract metadata and show the date from the file showing in the image sequence? An alternative solution might be to name the files with the date, then show the filename.

If you’re not stuck to blender you might want to try ImageMagick to overlay the metadata to your pics. Have a look here: https://www.imagemagick.org/discourse-server/viewtopic.php?t=18597
