Toon Motion Smear (no blur)

Hey guys, Ive been experimenting with achieving a cartoon smear instead of a realistic motion blur. Ive ended up having to color ramp all the blurred pixels in the rgb to get a solid alpha. Then apply a color to get the image back to its intended color. Ive had some decent results but is ther a simpler way? Thanks.

IIRC you can change the falloff curve of the motion blur exposure in Cycles. Sadly I just tested it and find that it has falloff. However you could try cranking up an emitter node when in motion to compensate for the transparent nature?

Thanks 3pointEdit, it’s so close but so far away. I wish I knew code so I could just take out the part that tells the node to blur the results.

What about vector blur as a post effect?
