VSE and frame blending in speed effect

I remembered and retried :smiley: from an old blender 2.49 version: the frame blending option in the speed effect.
I really like this effect, and really adds a smooth effect to video.

This feature was lost starting with blender 2.5Does anyone else like it ?
Is there a good place where we could request that feature back ?

Its like an onion-skin effect? Can you set the number of frames?
Maybe useful for de-flickering. I am interested

You can stack strips with an offset and mix value which can be automated with a script, but its a pain and messy.
