I have put together a little add-on, that others might also find useful. How would I go about posting it? Also, does Blender have on-line instructions for importing add-on’s, so that I can post a link, rather than writing the full text?

Unofficial ways are Pastebin, Github, Gitlab, attachments (.py/.zip), …
It all depends on how much you are willing to spend effort on documentation and support. Easiest is to probably just link it as an attachment in this thread.
