Objects casting shadows even though there is no light source?

I have set up an external scene and can’t work out why the buildings are casting shadows in the opposite direction of the sun lamp (the black shadow along the edge of the green object). Even with all lamps turned off the black shadows are still there - does anyone know where they might be coming from? Thanks!

How are we supposed to know when you’ve failed to even supply a .blend file for anyone to look at ?

Why deliberately make it as difficult as possible for anyone willing to help you ? You should should be supplying a .blend file for ALL support questions at the very minimum

If there is no light source, the render would be black.
