.nif plug-in for modern blender?

I’m currently trying to help the OpenMW team put together an example suite for the OpenMW engine, however I’ve had a few set backs. I originally make a few meshes in 2.7 only to find out that it doesn’t natively have the ability to export .nif files, 2.49 has a plug-in that works though. None of my.blend files can be opened in 2.49 so I’ve been laboriously trying to relearn everything.

according to what I’ve read, the guys at niftools only made it for 2.49 and my search has been fruitless. I’m not experienced with blender so I might be missing something very obvious, if anyone has any idea how I can fix this I’d be grateful.

" I might be missing something very obvious" - check this page.

“None of my.blend files can be opened in 2.49” - have you checked option “Legacy Mesh Format” while saving the files? Animation data is not/can not be made backwards compatible afaik. Maybe some intermediate file format can be used to deal with that.
