rectangles rendering with triangle shading

So I encountered this little problem while doing some retopology. All faces are rectangualar, yet in rendered mode it shows triangle shading for some rectangles and when applying smooth shading there are some weird streaks.



I hope somebody can help me with this.

Most render engines split quads into 2 triangles for performance reasons, Cycles is no different. The artifacts in your smooth shaded render appear to be terminator artifacts, they will be minimized/removed once you subdivide your model.

Thanks for the answer. I guess you’re right and since I’m trying to do a low poly body for game usage I just worked sloppy. I’m going to renew some parts and at this point I realise that the ear is one realy tough part to do without getting these artifacts.
