Problem with rendering fire and smoke in Blender Render

I am using quick smoke, and I am having a problem where the fire and smoke animation look normal when just playing the animation, but when I render it the smoke and fire are very faint and at first glance do not even appear to be there. Does anybody know what the problem could be?

Without a blend file it’s hard to say. Don’t forget, you are seeing an OGL view of your scene when not rendered, lighting comes into effect for the final product. Have you tried placing a point light at the base of your fire? Or increasing the emission?

To begin with, I would structure my workflow so that the base-scene and the “fire and smoke” are entirely rendered separately. (In other words, “as two entirely independent sets of MultiLayer OpenEXR files.”)

Now, in a third Blend-file that combines the two previously-saved inputs, you can “tweak” the two channels of information against one another, making spot-adjustments as required.
