Corel Draw import?

Can Blender import 2D vector-based drawings from Corel Draw? What format is best?

thanks

EPS, AI or SVG should work fine. I don’t know if they updated the import scripts in 2.4 but if not and you get your curves messing up when importing then visit the following site for python scripts:

thanks, but I seem to have a problem with Blender “closing” any open loops when imported into Blender (in ai format from Corel Draw)…is this expected behavior?

Mike

Try going into edit mode, selecting a point on the closed curve and doing Curve->Toggle Cyclic ©. This will switch between closed and open.

The last blender release does not really upgrade the svg importer (0.33 and the current one is 0.46) but there is a the new version can be found there :

It uses a new function to close correctly cyclic curve in blender 2.40 .
Just a problem : the curves are imported in separate object an they need to be joinded …

can this also be used to export a uv map into corel? so that the uv map is trsanformed into a vector graphic?

I recently needed to export something from Flash and something else from Corel to Blender, and in both cases, exporting to AI gave me excellent results!

About exporting the UV map from Blender, I think that the only thing you can do is export the UV map to an image, but if there’s a script that does this (export the UV map to vector graphics), then… my mistake!!!

i decided to keep the iv map as an image, then jsut ourline it in coreldraw with a grid. now i have mesh fill. then save import into photoshop for final adjustments, viola (talke about intense texturing lol)
