Audio Analysis v1.0.1

Hi,

By request, I have started a thread for the Audio Analysis tool in this forum.

Audio Analysis: http://www.davidjarvis.ca/blender/tools/
Tutorial: http://davidjarvis.ca/blender/tutorial-17.shtml

The Audio Analysis tool converts an audio signal’s strength into an Ipo Curve. This allows items in Blender to change their properties, synchronised to a sound file.

Let me know what you think.

hey, thats I’ve wanted something like this for awhile thanks! any chance of ogg support?

It supports all file types, so long as you convert them first to .wav format. The oggdec command, for example, converts .ogg files to .wav:

With so many ways to convert files from one format to another, and so many possible file formats (.wav, .aiff, .ogg, .au, .mp3, etc.) it seems silly to support them all. But you do have the source code, go nuts, and be sure to publish your changes.

I have just posted my first test of this up here…

and I have to say I am very impressed…

Thanks Dave for the good work!

This is great!
another cool addition to Blender, thanks a lot Dave!!

Quick test based on the above tutorial…here

You need to set the sensitivity a bit lower so the light only comes on at the really loud parts, lightning doesn’t keep going while the thunder is rumbling away. Cool test though.

Yeah…coz its picking up also the sound of of the rain too…thanks…

@ecgilboy: Do you have a follow-up animation?

Kinda busy @ work ATM…but planning another one…choosing the right materials…

Posted my latest findings over at http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?p=848941

I’ll be doing more on this test project so I thought it best to start a thread for it over there…

Thanks again Dave…
