Every time I make a film, I get backed against a frustrating technical challenge which causes me to eventually give up the film.

I'm worried it's happening again.

Can someone please complete the face rig on this character? It's a Malayo style rig, texture based, and I'm having a ton of trouble with it.

Don't change naming conventions, don't edit the character mesh. And please tell me what changes you made.

Oh, and tell me what you want to be known as in the credits!

Thanks!

I will take another look into this when I have more time to, but I just wanted to offer a piece of advice that has been invaluable for me:

If you can't figure it out, find another way.

It seems as though driving textures is very complex in 2.4, and likely why I never learned how to do it But it would be far easier to drive a shapekey for instance, or the visibility of objects perhaps... you could have a modeled object for each eye shape, and drive the visibility of them for example. There are options, so don't give up, keep searching!

K, this really is not working out. Would someone please update the facial rigs found in this ZIP folder so that they have no refresh issues? You WILL get your name in the credits. In fact, I will write it down.

Details: the rigs are currently powered by driving the brightness values of several textures. The style of rigging is supposed to hide/reveal basic 2-D graphics in a "malayo/pocoyo" sort-of way. Currently the graphics flicker in the render, even in keyframe-free regions. Your mission is to create a solution which does not change the control scheme if possible, and does not change the main character rig in any way. Good luck, you'll need it.

Thanks,

MTracer.
