About long project: Blender only support 18000 frame. It's okay on a scene basis, but this limite is also present in the sequencer, which is a major limitation. So you can't sequence you complete short of small scenes of 5000 frame each in blender. I always though it was a bug, When i load a big avi in blender. after the frame 18000, it start to be instable (because blender can load more than 18000 frames)

I compiled a version with support up to 30000 frames (for a PR video I was mixing for a company). I didn't notice any instabilities. I keep forgetting I have that though, so I never remember to mention it to higher ups if they can think of any problems that might cause (for eventual commit).

in the 3d view and the animation in genral it enough. but the sequencer should not be limited to 12 minutes.
