Here's a pink version, tell me what you think is the most valentinish one.
And as I said, you'll get a tutorial tomorrow on how to make the rose. Just can't make it today because I have a test tomorrow.

Cheers.

SO we are both making valentine card. Yours looks great. I wanted to make someting wih a rose too for my gf valentine card but i wimp out . It looked to hard. I made Winnie the Pooh instead. (Its in the wip forum )

I think the pink version looks way better. Making it even more pink less peach would be even better.

Are you gonna add anything to the background?

Pink, and I would add something or make it all one color instead of the fade (:

I like your bear, I'd just change his left eyelid a little bit.

Are we going to see this tute, or at least a blend?

Rose tutorial:
So step1:
Fire up blender and subdivide the cube once. After that put subsurf on, go into top view, resize the cube so it's get thinner at the top, and do a short spinned curve like on the image below.

Step 2:

Copy the end of the first pedalcurve and start making a new one a bit outside like on the image. Do this several times to get a lot of pedals.

Step 3:

go into front view and select the lower part and draw it down a bit, then select the middle part of vertecies and press K -> knife(midpoint)-> draw a horisontal line over the selected area.
Now resize the the middle part of vertecies so it gets a rose shape.

Step 4:

Now push and drag the overpart of the pedals so it doesn't look too uniformed like this.

well that's pritty much it, hope you'll be able to make a lovely rose to someone. And the blend file will be uploaded soon but I haven't found a place to upload it on.

Thank you so much!!! I searched the internet, I think this is the first blender rose tutorial. It looks much better than the Lightwave tutorial I found.

Thank you!

Hey, how's bout some rose petals on the floor, I think that kinda adds to the mood of it all :P

Some word or message would be nice at the top maybe, in Caligraphy writing, just to kill all the blank spaces in the background lol!

But roses aren't perfectly spun.

I did just a bunch of extrudes, in that way you have more control, and can make it less repetative.

This is way cuuute! Also thanks much for the rose tutorial. That method seems like a really smart way of doing things.

BTW, this may be too much work, but I'd love to see an animation of some kind with this little guy. Imagine if he walked onscreen from the side, and then looked straight at the camera and gave the shy smile. It'd be sooooo adorable!

I guess it'd have to be very low res to render in any reasonable time and I'm not sure how well the fur would animate, but it'd be a neat project to tackle I think. He just seems like a character that'd be perfect for a little short animation..

Cheers,
Shawn

I'd love to do an animation with him, but the rendertime is so high 2h 40 min for one frame.. sure I can get it down, in a lowres. mode but the time will still be around 30-60 min I think..

But I'll try anyway.. just for fun.

Glad you liked the tutorial and the picture.
