Hi

Second game I've completed, try it, comment it and use anything from it if you want.
Game is nothing special, you are a tank driver left alone in the enemy city and you need to clean it up from enemy strongholds.
I made it to explore game engine, teach my self some stuff about it and made the same mistake as before, I didn't make a complete plan of the game before starting and that costed me a lot of time.
There are some scripts used that I found on the forum so if there is any problem with that please contact me.

Runtime 12.6MB

Blend file 7.7MB

some pics:

Wow! Looks great! Downloading right now. I will give you a feedback later.

Btw, awesome toon style.

EDIT: hey dude! Congratulations! Very cool. Gameplay is fine, setup for logic bricks is clear. Maybe you can go far with textures or use GLSL. Nice UVmap work you did here.

I liked the music. Maybe you should use it just for the start menu. Inside game you could use an engine noise or another music (this is just a sugestion). Talk to Corey (Aka Tomorrowman) from Cognitive! Maybe you should pack together this game and "dogfights".

I also noticed your detail for the damaged tank turret, very nice.

Very nice to have different cameras.

Maybe you should disable rigid body dinamics because things don't work when the tank is fliped upside down. Is there any special reason for using "convex hull polytope" for collision? You should use box instead. Well this is my opinion.
Your game rocks.

P.S: Est, you can open .rar files with winrar (for windows) http://www.rarlab.com/
If you are under unix it is easy.

It looks great! Unfortunately, it has some collision warnings (using near sensor?) which causes great havoc on my outdated PC.

@Thorgal
Thanks for your reply, you are right about all you said, there are parts of a game that need a lot of work.
I didn't take enough time to deal with textures as I should and the result is obvious. Sounds are also very flat and in need of work, all that as a result of trying to finish a game in a short period of time and in lack of a good plan.
And a reason I used "convex hull polytope" is because I forgot to change it back to "box"
Anyway, all of this issues are now in my head and I'll know them in advance for my next project
Thanks again

@S_Cross
Yes, I am using a near sensor and I know about the warnings. Someone was writing about it on the forum and said that it should not be a problem but looks like it is. Game itself eats a lot of resurces and should be optimized better.

Try this , it opens every compression file type known to god and man.
http://www.7-zip.org/
it even supports multicore/multiple processors, and has a bitchin 64bit native version. and all that for Free

Seems like some people have issues with these warnings and some don't. I don't know if it's a slow PC thing or what, but if a near sensor is used, it makes things unbearable on my PC. Framerates drop from 60 to 5 repeatedly. Just a thought...I wish they would get it fixed.

Holy crap!!! I love tank games, lol, it looks like Ultimate Spderman, I hated it, not because of it's graphics, but because of its typical Activision difficulty: just make the time limit reeaally tiny so there's less chance of winning.

I just finished playing your game, and I think it's really good. There is also a lot to fix, like camera passing through buildings, and enemy turrets are a bit unintelligent, because they wont fire back unless you fire at them. But still, I can't criticize you (more than I already did ) since I don't know how to make the simplest game in blender engine, and I know it's not easy.

All the things you mentioned are actually easy to solve, there is a camera collision detection script somewhere on the forum and I had different plans for enemy turrets but it ended like this... Anyway I'll keep it in mind for next project!

And thanks for playing!

Heh, Yugoslavia was a "big country".

And yes, this forum has several members from the balkan area, but we usually use private messages to talk.
Nice job spacestrudel. You're becoming quite the regular here. Keep it up.
