Hi all, as you may know, Blender will be at siggraph this year.

We would like to have a demo reel that shows off some of the impressive features of Blender, something that can be viewed in a few minutes, that has a really high visual impact.

To that end I would like the community to suggest specific videos that powerfully demonstrate a blender feature. This can be either completed work and/or behind the scenes/making ofs.

Please provide links to the specific video you would recommend and what areas you would recommend them for and also preferably what time into the video you would recommend excerpting.

We need content to demonstrate all of the following areas of Blender

Modeling
Sculpting/Multiresolution Mesh
Retopologizing
Normal Map Baking
UV Unwrapping
Node Based Texturing
Paint Based Texturing
Rigging
Shape Keys
Weighting (the fancy new stuff and painting)
Animating
Particle Effects
Hair/Fur
Fluids
Hard Body Physics
Soft Body Physics
Cloth
Rendering
Compositing
Video Editing

Note that features shown for Apricot might be ok also.

Note that I do not plan on being the individual doing the video; this is only to be a useful resource for the artists who is selected to do the work.

I will seek the artist permissions for including their work in the demo reel. Please feel free to make multiple suggestions for each category so that the artist will have a lot of choices.

Suggestion should be preferably something like

Cloth - Ballerina - http://www.vimeo.com/819612?pg=embed&sec=819612 0:02-0:08

or the blenderartists thread etc.

Although just a mention of the video is fine,

also exceptionally powerful stills can be considered also.

LetterRip

Hi LetterRip. I wrote three articles in the latest BlenderArt about Fire, Eavy Smoke and Ocean. If you want, i can make some animations about this feature for the show. Are you interested ?

You can mail me about that : francois@coyhot.com

Well, I have a couple of animations which contain fluid simulation and physics here (the "finnaqua" animations). They are professional work and one of them is a television advert, but I have the rights to show and distritube them anywhere. If you consider them suitable for the siggraph demo, you may use them.

I've got quite a few modeling timelapses that're available for use if you're looking for some modeling demonstrations. Here's one of them on Vimeo http://vimeo.com/1080340

This could be my entry for rigging. I´m about to release BlenRig 2.0, and I´ll be releasing some video tutorials showing its functionality, so I´ll post the links when they are done. If you need the highres version give me a call.

You gotta get an excerpt of the Hangar No.5 short in there. Most of the shots look awesome, there's one or two where the depth lighting needs tweaked. (you know the shots)

It's an awesome body of work and could easily showcase blender's (and the artists) ability at an another good short.
