It took me a lot of work, and in the end I ran out of time. But oh well, I am glad I got it as far as I did. Please enjoy!

Not sure if this qualifies because Santa has elf slaves make all the toys for him.
Didn't have time to create a texture.

I'm glad I got to participate. My texturing stinks, it was my first time to use SSS in a project (possibly at all,) and I seriously need to work on my ear and hand modeling. Anyhow, glad to be with you all.

Good job, fly! Unlike mine yours had lighting and a scene set up, with the lighting casting that evil shadow on the toymaker. Good work.

God bless and merry Christmas!

P.S. Thanks, theeth, for hosting this challenge! Merry Christmas to you, too!

... it's hard to choose between these entries.

When I do a weekend challenge, I get overly focused on the project and can easily spend over 30 hours screwing around. I waste so much time experimenting with lighting, textures, and particles. A lot of time is also used for rendering parts and pieces of the unfinished work.

How much time do some of you spend on these weekend projects? Does it take over your life at some point?

Actually, the toymaker (my entry) looked better without the SSS. Oh well, skin must be very hard to do.

@dirtyBlender: Well, I could try to figure the hours... this probably isn't accurate, but let's say around 5 hours? It was probably more. 6, 7? Anyhow, I started this Friday (19) and posted my entry some 15 minutes prior to the deadline. Yes, it took a lot of work and in the last hour and a half it was an inconvenience to fit the completion (scene setup, rendering, uploading, posting) in, but it worked. Anyhow, I'm glad to have submitted and I hope my future works will be more, er, refined.

Thanks! God bless,
-b

@dirtyBlender: I spent about 8 - 10 hours on the WC. I used some time learning how to use particles to make fireplace and a hot metal effect for the sword. Then I wasted a lot of time because of a flawed rig - I made an extra-simple rig for the blacksmith, just to find out that the fingers won't stay the way I need them, to hold the sword and the hammer. In the very end, I run out of time so I killed the rig and posed the hands manually.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Thanks for all your votes!

That's my first win in the WC - a great Christmast gift :-). I've sent a new topic to Martin.

Cheers,
Greg

It's great that you won, aiWorks! Bravo. I'll have to keep going and try to make a complete scene next time.
