Well done to all entrants - the quality level has been extremely high this year. However, there can only be one winner, so good luck to everyone. The poll will be up for 7 days.

If you haven't tried some of the games, you can find them here... http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=157542

I vote for Terra Sirenum because there were many casual games this year, but I 'd like to see how BGE works for a FPS. It was not that bad for the start!

I'd like to vote for myself, but I guess I can't really do that ^^

Good luck to everyone else.

This is really hard... there are many games that play well, or are taking the BGE into exciting to places... such as:
Pit Monsters (BGE's first tower defense game?)
Nano Shooter (I couldn't play this online... but I reallly wanted to!)
Concept RGP (the start of something great!)

My final picks were, DukDuk, MegaGolf and ColorCube.
Ultimately, it was ColorCube's gameplay that enjoyed the most.

This one was a toughy to vote for! I wish I could have chosen more than 1

Cube and Color Cube were simple and solid (ie, I wasn't falling through walls or anything). However, Nanoshooter really impressed me. It is also very solid, even with the networking! Granted there were some hiccups, but the Nanoshooter team has been very quick to address them! Great job to everyone though

After playing all the games last week, I was most impressed by Megagolf. It was simple, fun, worked great. In my opinion Megagolf is the exact type of game that should be made with Gameblender, so after considering Color Cube (also an extremely solid game) and Cube (Impressive for logic bricks only) I decided Megagolf may not have been the most fun, but it played the best out of all of the games.

I voted for colour cube as it seemed fairly original to me and got a real sense of satisfaction when I solved a level. I can also see people paying good money to play this game. Maybe a mobile phone download or Wiiware title? Good stuff

Megagolf, Duk Duk, and ColorCube are definitely my top picks.

Burning rubber has a VERY nicely done menu and nice looking cars... but aside from that, where is the gameplay that everybody is seeing? The car flips when you hit the tiniest bump, and the friction on the dirt is much bigger than that of the concrete... not to mention that aside from the map that's flashed at the beginning, there's no direction at all. I went the direction that I thought was correct, and then a message flashed on the screen saying that I'd failed, and that I'd pay with my life. Hmmmm...

DukDuk crashes on my main PC and my laptop though... which are both running 64 bit. Any ideas why? Terra Serenium does the same thing.

Yeah kind of embarrassing, that my entry will occasionally have a fatal error. I don't have a clue how to debug something that doesn't produce an error message and is not easily repeatable.

I have just completed writing up some little summary reviews on all the games I have been able to play. Chances are your game is there. It's not divided into catagories though, so I thought I better not post it on all three catagory threads.
it's over at the old game comments thread, view here http://blenderartists.org/forum/show...63#post1410363

So DukDuk doesn't even run on your PC, yet it's in your top picks? You're poking all sorts of holes through my team's game, yet you are thinking of voting for a game that you can't even play? The bugs you mentioned are caused by Blender 2.49 not being completely compatible with our game (physics wise). We ran into all sorts of time problems with finishing up the game and that's why there is little direction apart from the map. I was kind of hoping people could actually look at the map, instead of hoping for some magical arrow to lead them in the right direction. (My team mate was in Japan when 2.49 was released, no communication apart from email. That was the problem).

Oh, and no offense intended to DukDuk. One of the best games here in my opinion. I just didn't find the gameplay as vibrant as others.

I can run DukDuk on another (non-64-bit Vista) computer. It didn't have revolutionary gameplay, but it was entertaining for a bit, and graphics actually can contribute (or take away from) fun (though obviously they're not a huge factor when it comes to gameplay).

I really didn't mean to offend you or put down your game, I was just stating my opinion. I realize that the post comes off a little as "really? people like this game?" but that's not what I meant to communicate. I thought the game was pretty flawed, I didn't find it fun, and I explained why. I also don't find a lot of racing games fun (except more arcadey ones), so maybe that's part of it. Obviously others have a different opinion.

Should I try and run the game in 2.48a? Or is it already changed for 2.49?

My main problem with your post is that it should probably be in a different thread. Comments on the game should be written here: http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=157543

All of the scripts and logic was changed for the 2.49 release, so it is no longer backwards compatible. It was later that we realised the physics in 2.49 had big issues that didn't have an apparent fix. If we had another week after the deadline many of these issues would be fixed.

I have no idea why DukDuk might be crashing, that said, I completed it for the first dealine which was months before (and a software version before) the extended deadline. It worked fine for everyone back then.

aaah, Had to vote for ColorCube in the end, I finished it the night before (stayed up late) and by the time I got to the level where you can start changing gravity, I thought, this is actually really neat!! That last level was epic. Not only was the gameplay outstanding, the programming was quite sound as well, the only small issues I had were that one of the background music tracks didn't repeat, and there was one spot where I could get the cube onto a spot with no ground... But to have it all in logic, such a stable, polished game was great! Graphics were really quite pleasing to look at too, although I had to disable shadows and various other things to get a good frame rate on the final levels. Level design... gee. If it was hard finishing the levels, It would be at least 20 times as hard making them, especially the later levels. I really want more now that I've finished it!! Kudus, Well done :-) got my vote for gameplay and logic. The best overall game I think.

I'm interested to know, how many people actually finished this game, and also how many people managed to get the package in the end...

OK folks,

The voting for this category is in. The judges top votes were matched up with the community vote, and the winner is......

DUK DUK!!! The judges vote was completely different on this one ( and included DukDuk ), so this fact and the fact that it's the top ranking game makes it the winner.

Congratulation to all of the entrants - this has definitely been the highest standard yet for a Blender GE competition, and I'm sure a future one will surpass even this!

Mal

I'll pm the winners for bank details for the Euro200 prize
