I have recently completed a head and face rig which is quite flexible and capable of some lip syncing through shapekeys.
I have done some videos that show what it can do and I am posting the blend file for those who want to play around with it and maybe use it for something creative.

Even though I am complete with this some comments and critique are welcome so that I can improve myself to my next project.

Lip syncing to some Pulp Fiction dialog.

Very good solid work with the facial rig there. Noticed you even got the adam's apple going there.

Great rig! It offers nice range of expressions with relatively small number of controls.

I'll have to dig through it!

Riste

p.s. Well animated range of expressions too.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.
@ristesekuloski - Thanks, I did not want a single controller for every little muscle on the face, I wanted it simple.
For example the mouth corner controllers play a big role in the whole chin area by affecting the bones in that area in different ways.
They do that in a way a thought they should based on "look in the mirror and make funny faces research"
