I have made a fairly detailed 3D item which I would like to transfer to another ongoing project. Is there something like cut and paste for transforming objects from one document to another? Any information will be apprreciated.

Save the origonal file
Open the new file Shift F1 to append or select Append from the file menu Browse to the origonal file Click on it Click on Object Click on Object to load Click Load Library This will load the Object and all attached materials into you current file. |

What you're looking for is called 'Append'. It's in the File menu at the top of the screen. Choose the object(s) you want from the 'Object' tree (not 'Mesh').
Beware of 2.37[a] -- after appending one or more objects from another file, Blender thinks it is editing that other file and save will overwrite it! Hope this helps. [edit]Rats--two seconds two late again! [/edit]

Thanks for the reply. I tried "Append..." but gave up too soon. You saved me a lot of work!
