Well, here it is so far. I'm about done with the modeling right now. The elevators are seperate objects so I can change their direction later on (for possible animation...). I'm using blueprints from "The Blueprints.com" so I have a pretty good reference image to guide my modeling. I will make the UVmap now and start with the bump map for finer details such as panels and such. I'll follow with the color map afterwards but I'm looking for comments on the model before I do the UV map. I am going to redo the vertical tail because I'm not really happy with it. and might add the engine interior detaisls (fan etc)

Thanks for taking a look
Slep

Thanks, I just finished the remodelling of the tail and minor changes. I applied the mirror modifiers and the meshes are ready to be uvmapped.

Here is a small fly around animation. I'll try the 3dnp script though

I'm done with playing connect the dots in the UV editor and finished the bump map for the plane. I'm really pleased with the result (as this is one of my first complete Uv map for a model. I'm barely starting in this awful UV mapping business)

Here is the Model with the bump map applied. The settings for it are not final of course. It will depend on the color map etc

Here is the Bump map if you're interested

And as requested by N-Gon, this is the unwrapped model:

The seams are pretty obvious. The fuselage is split verticaly in two identical sections. The wings in half horizontaly and the engines are split horizontaly also. Each of the part (wings, fuselage) are seperated from each other in the mesh (not linked) which makes the unwrapping much easier.

I'm about finished with the color map and other materials. I've fiddled with Yafray for a studio style look to showcase the model itself

I might consider adding dirt and scratches but that's for another day.

I think the panel joins on the bump map are much too fat, they look very rounded, try making them much thinner and sharper. At the moment it looks as if someone has just traced the lines with their finger

I've reworked the bump map a bit and tried to make it sharper as traitor correctly suggested with the gimp. So far I have achieved mix results. I've added a slight reflection to the fuselage and reworked the cockpit a bit.

I've redonne the bump map from scratch and I'm about pleased with it. I might add smaller scratches and such in the future though. I'll rework the color map and add more detail to it this weekend (I hope)

I'm just about done with texturing I'm extremely pleased with the results so far. I'd also love to hear your opinion on it so feel free to comment on it. Rendered in Yafray using GI and one sun lamp for the shadows

Can I make a suggestion?
make panel lines a lot thinner, and the bump map must be almost unnoticeable.

Looking good Slepnyrl, I don't really have any suggestions for it, just keep on and finish it.
