Cool tutorial. But what if I want that grass in game engine? I's that possible?

hey all, Is there a way to set up particles so that they are affected by soft bodies? I am trying to get swaying grass and all roads lead to this after some disappointing tests with wind. Or is there a way to set up the particles so they sway with using the wind, not all forced in one direction? Oh yeah, I am using the new particles system

I'm getting to know the new particle system, I'll update the tutorial after 2.46 is released. I haven't tried anything with soft bodies yet.

Many of the images, including ones that illustrate panel settings, are now dead links. Is there anywhere to get these, or anyone willing to duplicate the information that's in them?

Cheers,
Stephen.

Question: Let's say I want to place an Object on a plane with grass. I wouldn't want strands of grass to go through my objects. I have played around a little and was able to ... somehow get that done by making the object a spherical force field and weight painting the plane at the location of the object. But that would only wook in a render, if I would try and animate the grass with some wind empties as suggested in this thread, the strands would go in and out of my objects.

Any ideas on how to make sure that doesn't happen? What would also be nice to see is how you create some stones (well, more of what settings to use than the actual creation ) with a little spacing between them, and grass coming out of there (but not out of the stones itself )

Anyways, my resulting image is here
I think it might look better with a more detailed ground texture. You know, rocks and stuff.

Thanks for the tutorial, Imperitor!

Here's what I came up with a few hours after reading your thread.

it should be noted that the tutorial would work a little bit different with the way the particle system changed between the here used version of Blender and the newest version (2.45.17 RC5?)

Yes, it's possible... But without particle effects. You use alpha planes with grass textures
