Hi all,

I am about to change my game plan again....

Rather than just deleting it from my hard disk I have decided to upload what i have so far...

In this zip you will find the basic shell of a game, it includes:

1 bad guy... the Worm.. it will follow player and inflict 10 points damage upon contact...

1 player model, fully rigged robot.... the camera zoom level can be changed with the numpad +/-.

1 fully working cannon view... demonstrating the great new Split screen features in 2.41/2.42.

1 nice mono-spaced font (same as in another thread i started, nothing new)

**new** 1 Auto sentry cannon!
**new** worm spawner!

and A BUNCh of little sound effects from me, my PC misc, and Audacity. Most sound effects are under 20k.

Everything is free to use in any way you see fit all models, textures, sounds, etc... can be copied and pasted into your own map/game





I am going to Start over.... rather than a 3d shooter, iam going to make it like an old DOS game from electronic arts called "Crusader" and "crusader no remorse"...

it will be an isometric game, with lots of action and puzzles. Rather than make Huge empty worlds, I am going to make the game room by room... Each new room will be a new scene so i can make it nice detailed.

anyways, hope this helps someone!

COntrols:
WSAD- move robot... robot must be moveing forward to turn
**NEW** Left shift- RUN!!
Space- Jump
arrow key Left/right- Rotate turrett
Arrow key forward-- FIRE!
**NEW** Arrow key back- RollerBomb!

Numpad +/- for camera zoom
F1-restart map


EDIT:
The femail robot voice is from the text to speach reader that comes with windows, i used Mary and added a wawaa,baseboost,normalize,amplify and echo in audacity.....

I love the effect! nice and robotic sounding

Blender crashed when I tried to run it. What version did you develop this with?

you need to use the Release Cantidate 3 (RC3) version....

the new physics are verry nice
I can have lots of bulletts made out of 1xsubdevided icosphere, and set to actor+dynamic+Sphere bounds bounceing around with out a verry bad preformance hit.

I need to learn more about the physics engine,

I want to:

Make a door that I blast open, and after teh blast the door swings in the breeze on its top hinge only (while the other door gets completely blown off)

Make a Triggered restrant- in Fear ther first door you open is funny as hell... you press the open key and the door just falls to the ground. I want to use this same tactic for doors, boobytraps, etc.....

Make 3 or 5 shot bursts- in the bullett engine we can Mass propigate physics objects... this would be great for a machieen gun like weapond!

anyways... im going to get back to reading

Wow!
this game has really evolved in the past hour or so!

now it includes an Auto sentry...it is always facing the player, and when player is standing on the trigger it has a fire timer... so while player is touching trigger it keeps reloading and firing bullets... the bullets are sphere bounded! so the player gets knocked in the appropriate direction when hit!


and the worms are spawned by a trigger!! each worm kills about 20 FPS, so in the future I am going to add a limiter on it, so it will only spawn a a pre-designated amount of the worm.

I added a couple of animations to the robot, he is much more nimble now
Hold Left-shift to make him run in turbo mode!

there is a new we pond called the roller bomb, tap down arrow to start it charging... it launches the direction the chassis is facing, and kills most things in 1 blast with splash damage.

you need to pack the file with sounds and stuff.

weee! this is so cool, I am planning a full blown game right now

Yea, i did a File>package data with this...

Dose it work for you now?

you must use the blender 2.42 RC3 to make it work as well.

you have to go to file and click pack then go to the video editor and select all then make a meta strip then save. then upload the file. sorry

the filesize is much smaller, and teh game runs much faster, I had my sounds in diffrent tracks....
now that it is all packed, it seems to run verry nice!

heh, I still heard no sounds for some reason...

I like the gnarly wireframe explosions, there pretty cool...the gameplay could be alot better though.

I would suggest making it WAY more challenging, because right now its not a challenge at all...I mean, I can kills the worm in a matter of seconds just by hitting the up key over and over...way too easy, and not too fun.

Also, the robot moves really really slow...for a game like this, hectic gameplay might be more fun, so I would also suggest making the robot move way faster and turn way faster.

So yea, if the game was alot more challenging and everything moved alot faster I think that would vastly improve gameplay.

Yea! i love the wireframe shader

The gameplay is going to get a bit better later on tonight I really appreciate your honesty

I am going to spend some time and RTFM on the sound system in blender, and see if I can tell what is hapening.

after a couple more tests i am going to abandon this little project, and start on my "Crusader" like game. I think i have the solutions i need for a verry nice looking maps, and heavily animated charictors 8)
