Hi . . an other update . . I think is a big one
-First of all . . a big Thanks to JesterKing (Nathan) for the pynodes. I add a modify version of pynodes in this update to be able to use it with biiiiiiig nodes for mentalray. - An addition of and interface in the lights to control the shadowmaps. - A new interface for baking and reusing of GI, FG and shadowmaps. - A general Cleaning in the costume area to be able to put costume material and initial information. - I fix multiple bugs in lamps and materials. thank you so much! I am looking forward to the final version so much because we have Mental Ray here at the University! Furthermore I am curious if you are aware of what Mental Ray for Blender might mean? With and industry standard render engine connected to Blender Studios will have a professional output while not using Maya or other expansive 3D apps they might not need. This makes Blender much more valuable and flexible. Claas

WHOA thats good! and excellent render time :-D
can you tell more about the scene? Edit: you think you are so special?? I can do it too ![]() render 10:30 min on my old AMD 2.8+ Mental Ray 3.4 (I don't have your faster 3.5 version and for that I will kill you) keep posting example scenes like this one! I use Mental Ray through Maya. So I do NOT code shaders by hand. I create shader trees in Maya. However Mental Ray is PERFECTLY integrated into Maya. With a node system I assume the same could work with Blender because all MR needs are the 3d scene and the shader information. Talking about Mental Ray itself there is not much to say. Not the fastest horse on the world BUT the feature set and possibilities it offers you just make it deserve the title Industrial Strength. Mental Ray is just a very professional solution. Well other wise they would not use it for motion picture productions. From shaders, to GI, Caustics, saving Photonmaps and other toys it has it all.

RCRuiz,
Are you writing any doc or tutorial for Blental? Do you use current CVS for Blental? I an gonna start getting into Blental pretty soon, so it would be nice to have something to read on first
