Hello everyone, as some of you may already know the 'Blender World Cup' is held annually towards the middle of the year.

Blender World Cup – How it will happen this year

Where:
here at www.blenderartists.org

When:
1st June - Qualifying entries opened
1st July - Topic announced
1st August - Entries closed - Voting opened.

What:
The topic will be made up of 4 inspirations from below (one from each column); the inspirations will be progressively reduced to a set of 4 by July the 1st, giving entrants the chance to think of possibilities during the lead up to the opening round.

How:
As always we will have a qualifying round. However, this year the round will allow anyone to submit their favourite existing entry (to any official blender challenge) to qualify for the final round.

For example submitting your favourite work from a weekend challenge, or the F1 Challenge, will be a good way of qualifying. Winning entries to any of these previous challenges will get automatic qualification, others will be voted on to see who goes through.

If you haven't entered any competitions yet, or aren't happy with your entries, you have until June to enter something, into anything, Animation challenges, Weekend Challenges, F1....... (except SMC's).

Prizes:
First, Second, and Third place winners will each receive an official etched blender world cup, as well as the prizes donated by sponsors.

Below are the actual Blender World Cups for this year.

First Prize:

1) a 3DConnexion Space Navigator
2) a 3 month Blender/Gold membership at Respower
3) The Essential Blender, or your choice of product from the Blender E-Shop

Second Prize:

1) a 2 month Blender/Gold membership at Respower
2) The Essential Blender, or your choice of product from the Blender E-Shop

Third Prize:

1) a 1 month Blender/Gold membership at Respower
2) The Essential Blender, or your choice of product from the Blender E-Shop

Sponsors:

Respower
3Dconnexion

The Blender E-shop

Good luck everyone.

Sago enters BWC4.

Interesting approach on the topic, hopefully it'll work.

Don't get the qualification yet though.... so if I enter a winning work from a previous WC I'm automatically qualified to go to the next round? Not sure if I ever won a WC, but I have to check....

If you have ever won a WC, the F1, or a previous BWC. then you will automatically qualify for this one.

Meaning BackiZ, and GrapeApe will qualify, based on last years BWC.
Ecks will qualify on his winning of the F1 Challenge......
Sago, i'd say you would get in based on having a Monkey in your closet. ;-)

Its a lot easier to get in this year for experienced users (is basicly the idea). but newer users still need to qualify by getting their best entries voted on.

Okay, got it.

And if winning 1 WC is enough for qualifying, then I guess everyone is in..... including Wu-Man, haha. Well, the more the merrier.

edit:
time to make some BWC4 promo drawings...

Yes, a long long long time ago. WC #69 if I'm correct, haha. He just had to win that one. Anyway, there are up to 150 people who ever won at least 1 WC, so you must be a real goofball if you never won one.....

No they are real. photos of the real things.

And Sago, i know RobbertT has about 100 of those WC's, and lots of others have won multiples. so i guess there are probably about 50 people elegible.

Dolphinboy has won 16 WC's, almost as much as me. Yeah, you heard me right... almost. I took all those multiple winnings into account, but for argument's sake let's keep it at 100 WC-winners. Still enough for your BWC I'd say.

Its the first of the first countdown month, so the first set of possibilities have been eliminated.

actually Wu won two WCs at least, twice in a row I think. I just noticed this thread btw, I'm still a little foggy on what the hell this system is. I will compete for sure, last year was fun. I've won at least 3 WCs, so I guess I'm safe....I think....

Ok, it's possible that I am incorrect, however unlikely, and preposterous, that may seem...I was thinking the monster ladybug one won, which, I am thinking now, maybe it didn't...allthough it probably should have.

Only if that was a competition entry :P

There is plenty of time left to qualify. and in June we will have a qualifying vote-off of best works from people who haven't entered a challenge, so you could enter it then.
