Modelled in Blender 2.43. Rendered with Yafray 0.0.9. No postpro apart from a DOF blur outside.
Edit: Now I've corrected the kanji phrase on the scroll (thanks, Benkei!)
Edit 2: You can download the blend file from my web: http://www.pairal.net/3d/inout.blend

A hi-res version in my web: http://www.pairal.net/3d/inoutc1600.jpg

C&C welcome.

Very nice, if we exclude the fact that the kanji phrase written on the scroll hanged on the wall into the tokonoma has been flipped horizontally. It's a pity for such a wonderfull rendering.

Beautifully done, pairal. The atmosphere is nice and warm, inviting, almost a little too clean yet serene and picturesque. I wish I knew what the scroll on the wall said

Thanks for sharing this peaceful scene with us, and keep up the good work.

Very sorry for the error in the scroll. I'm going to correct it and place the new version as soon as possible.

Wow, great job. Nice lighting and textures and everything. And hey, just flip the image around and get a border-render of the scroll, photoshop it on top and no-one will be the wiser.

I think, with you being from Barcelona and me not having a clue about Kanji, that having the kanji upside down is very understandable. I love the softness of the outside, the sunlight, and the interior light glow - excellent job on lighting. Maybe the deck floor and post wood texture is a little too dynamic.

Mod: plz move this to WIP since he wants C&C. thx.

Or maybe he's done and just wants to hear what people think, posthumously.

I'd have to say the most impressive part of this scene is lighting. Nice job there. I wish I knew how to light like that.

Thank you for correcting the kanji. It was not supposed to be a harsh critique to your work of course. I was just thinking to the Japanese, Korean and Chinese users visiting this forum and to their reaction. Anyway, it's a great rendering, a superb image. The lighting of the room, in particular, is so real and "japanese".

Beautiful image! Really nice and warm, I love the way it's looking into two different rooms. Great textures, and the lighting is just spot on!

5 stars

Really good, but the wood beams look a little odd, kinda like they're fake. Try using a non-procedural texture for them. Of work on your procedural more. Other than that, really good.

4 stars (the texturing looks weird in places, especially the wood textures).

In case anyone is interested, you can download the blend from my web: http://www.pairal.net/3d/inout.blend
But be cautious, if you try to render in Yafray at 100% (2048x1152) with the parameters selected, the rendering time is about 90 hours!
