This is a new Character I am working on. The Reference was drawn by my sister. She calls it a Foatahlan (Fox, Cheetah, Dragon).

Here is what I have got today.

It's not much yet, but what do you think?

The head is coming along nicely. I am still working on refining the shape of the nose and some other small things. Then I will be moving on to the neck.

I really like the concept! Reminds me some of a Japanese dragon. You're doing it justice now, and I look forward o future updates. (Perhaps your edge-loops are running a little thick? You could maintain the same shape with a half or a third of what you currently have. Use the edge menu to eliminate edges (ctrl-e in edit mode)).

Nice work.

Yeah they are bit thick, but thats because I plan on animating it, and I want to be able to do a variety of expressions including snarls. I guess I will just have to do some experimenting and see how few I actually need.

Very nice so far. Interesting to see your approach to the face, it's going to interesting to whether it works for animation. I haven't seen many horse-like subsurf-meshes yet.

Hi, sorry for the lack of updates.
I haven't bean able to work on this much lately.
Here Is the hands of the character almost done.

I am using Slikdigits hand rigg with some improvements I came up with.
I still have some work to do on the thumb, and some volume correction for the midpoint of the fingers.
Other than that what do you guys think?

I first read that as "the reference is my sister"...was about to run away in terror from this thread.

I'm lovin' the modeling and the rigging so far. Keep going!

Yes I know, slowest modeler ever.

Yeah, this thing will have an impressive wingspan.

I'm still not happy with the muscle toning. I could use some help with that

Looks great so far! Looks like it has a really small torso and a long back if you look a it right. Looks like this is coming along good. Good luck with the rest!
