Hey, guys!

Now it's time to share the rest of our animations. =D

First things first, let me explain what this is all about:

There was a musical event here in Brasil about old myths and legends of the Amazon Forest. Basically these legends are about indians and other people who turns into animals and vice-versa. Each song on the event covered one of the legends and was preceded by a short animation.

We (myself with animation and all 3D stuff, Suryara Bernardi with drawings and Jovan de Melo with paintings) had a bit more than a month to complete 5 shorts of about 1 minute each. It was pretty challenging to complete all in time, so we've decided to use a more stylized kind of animation on this commercial work.

The first we've finished was already posted on this thread (thanks for all the votes an comments, by the way), and is about 'Matinta Perera': a witch that takes form of an owl and threatens people, searching for tobacco.

All videos are Xvid Avi's, tested on VLC.

The other ones are:

Nhapope: A very rare and beautiful kind of bird called Nhapope was desired by all tribes, who always tried to hunt her. When an indian finally get to hurt her, she runs away with her bird-partner and never gets to be seen again. Download (right click, save as)

Uirapuru: An indian fell in love with the Chief's wife. Facing the pain of having this impossible desire, he begs his God Tupan for help. Tupan, touched, transforms the indian into a bird called 'Uirapuru', which means 'bird that is not a bird'. That bird has an special gift: it sings beautifully. This gift, however, makes everyone try to hunt him, searching for good luck. Download (right click, you know the rest )

Boto: There was a mysterious man who showed up only at night in the parties. He used to seduce all women around, who got pregnant suddenly. He was the Boto, a kind of dolphin who used to get into human form to seduce women. Also, the women who were menstruated and happened to be sailing in the river were attacked by him. Download

Cobra Grande: An evil child-eater woman was thrown into the river to die, but gets saved by Anhanga - the evil Lord. He marries her, and their son gets transformed into a snake that grows gigantic, eating all the fish and animals and making all the tribes around suffer. Download

Matinta Perera: The one covered on the other thread. =D
Download

I'd love to read your comments!

Cheers!

Hi, EnV. I'm very sorry you can't watch the shorts. They are ffmpeg rendered avi's directly from Blender 2.44. The VLC version I'm using is 0.8.6, in a Linux Ubuntu box.

I've tested them also in a Windows XP box at work, but I can't remember the VLC version.

Cheers

I finally downloaded the VLC player and !!!! WOW !!!!
This is absolutely wonderful, very poetic, I don't understand the portuguese but images and the way it is told are very pleasant and for sure this is a beautiful story, sad as I may guess but nicely presented. I realy like the way you used Blender as a clever combination between 2D and 3D. Animation are perfect, assuming the animation should reflect puppets movements as they are driven by wires.

Just great, I enjoyed.

Hello Virgilio,
I just spent a real good time watching, many times, your movies, you success the most difficult thing: make your audience completely forget technical issues. You bring us to theatre to be amazed like child.
May be, for the children planet it could be nice to translate the sound track even your stick so well.
Carry on, I love the spirit

Hi, snelleeddy, EnV, paroneayea, ristesekuloski, poke, enricoceric, bugman_2000, Keleido, BgDM, & Martin! =D

I'm truly honored for what you've said, guys! It really made my day to read all that kind words!

I wish I could, at least, put some English subtitles on that, but I didn't have time yet.

About not making .movs, I had a REALLY bad time with Blender's sequencer Quicktime ffmpeg's export. It always played nicely on VLC, but with no sound on Quicktime Player - no matter which aud/vid codec (or even Blender version) I chose.

Finally, (as I'm on a Linux box) I've found a workaround for that. I was putting together a demo reel and needed to use this standard. Here are the steps:
- Export from Blender the movie in any format VLC could play nicely;
- Open with VLC and use the wizard to convert the video to Quicktime.
- The VLC converted video plays like a charm on Quicktime Player!
Now I have the movies on that format. As soon as possible I'll put them online and link here! =D

Cheers!

I'm having trouble downloading the videos. It downloads anywhere from 13 to 95% and then the connection stops and goes back to 0%. It does this with two download managers as well as the inbuilt firefox one. All other downloads from different sites seem to be working properly.

Don't fret. All these user-end problems are very normal: file format issues, bandwidth issues, and the like.

Unique here is that these pieces have wonderful sound, and I don't know spanish. separate subtitle files would be appreciated.
