Please upload your images and link them to this thread (or email them to me, and I will upload them).

Competition Topic

The above inspirational words make up the competition topic, interpret them as you wish, and come up with something fantastic.

Competition Rules
The Deadline for entries will be the 1st August 12GMT

1)The submitted image must be 1 megapixel or more.
1a) Animations may be smaller but will need a still frame sent with them

2) You will be asked to send a .Blend file, or screenshot with your entry as verification of Blender content.

3) Having said that, all tools are fair game, Photoshop, Yafray, photos & matte paintings used as backdrops or textures.... You are an artist, blender is a tool.

Suggestions

1) Do your thing, and do it well.

2) Artistic creativity is crucial in winning. First impressions, feelings, and emotions generally over-rule realism to voters, be free.

3) Sketch your ideas before modelling them, think about things such as composition long before getting into 3D, plan your use of effects such as DOF, Motion Blur, Glow at the beginning.

4) Enhance your fan-base early. Post your sketches and ideas to the forum as quickly as possible, excite them, and have them follow your work, free voters, and good Crit.

Copyright

As the artist you retain full copyright of any entered work. However, by submitting the work to the BWC, you are agreeing to give me (or any future BWC organiser) permission to use the image for BWC publicity.

Ok, in the distant future, after the earth has been mostly flooded, this teletubby-like shrew creature happens upon a remnant of our culture, and sees it as some kind of holy object, This is the beginning of TinkyWinkyism.

Here's mine:

Eve3000 is a robot in the distant future who discovers the tree of knowledge of good and evil. She is reaching for the fruit in the hope that it will give her that which separates her from her creators - a soul. Kind of like Pinocchio, but better looking

place holder

in advance:
i am writting this right now at 5:30, so im teribly sorry for bad gramma, spelling, or awkward sentences, but i will do my best to catch them all

so far:
had about 3 days to work on it (well, 2 days, one day was for rendering, 8 hr per render, render one good but without tree layer turned on, render 2- powerfailure, render 3, still in progress) due to work, university stuff, and a sudden trip:S but yeah i worked hard and i hope everyone likes it!

all in all it was fun, the nature part made me have to think abit about none technology parts, the sculpt brush was helpful in nicly modeling the base ground (althouhg i dont think it can be seen very well, but the cliff also has a certain niceness to it, thanks for giving me the oppertunity to participate and exploring nature modeling/rendering
although i wish i had more time to work on tthr drone
the story:
the year is 3030, the Galileo space drone has finally arrived on centary 5 with its tri-luna moons after a 50 year journey. the destination was chosen on the ground of an unexplained energy pattern that seems to be emited from the planet. after landing Galileo made its way and found itself on a pathed way, it lead to what appears to be the main temple of an ancient civilisation. new vegetation suggests a natural disaster that "cleared the land". on stone paintings it is visible that nature was not only part of their life, but also society turned around nature and its power to be gentile or destructive. the energy source seems to be the cube that not only glows and hovers above the temple, but it radiates the unexplained energy pattern. Inside the temple writting was discovered with a rough translation being "the cube of life, that was a gift from the Gods", indicating a poly-theistic religious oriented society.speculations are that it may be an advanced peice of technology which aided in the development (and or destruction) of this civilisation.

the picture:
the picture is of Galileo hovering with its anti-gravity generator (and tetra-carbon derivative alloy hull) down a pathed way to the main temple, with the temple and the cube in the background

main entry: (sadly didnt finish rendering in time, but i think the quality and message got through even if it isnt 100% complete! so yeah, please dont let the unfinished bits influence you, since i think its the whole image and beyond a complete render. full images have been send to alltaken for entry, photohosting cant have them big as required!

Call me stinky...but what would be the pixel dimensions to render a scene at 1 megapixel?
I read it's 1 million pixels, but is there a standard # x #?

As a baseline, a 1000x1000 image is a 1 megapixel image.

At a standard screen aspect ratio (1.33:1), an image measuring 1154*866 is ~1 megapixel. If you aim for a final render of 1280x960, you should be more than fine (1,228,800 pixels to be exact).

i wrote 1megapixel so that we could get ok quality renders at the end. in "whatever aspect ratio you want"

Long and flat, or tall and thin, really square..... use the image shape to your advantage, be creative.

May the best blend win.

Anthropologists have found evidence of an advanced civilization. A weapon has been located, on an inhabited planet. The locals made it a god, but it is needed in order to end an inter-system war definitively.

Edit: Nevermind.. I guess I had to qualify first (that's what I get for leaving the scene for a few months..).
Edit 2: Did I actually need to qualify or is this still open?

Alltaken: Nah. I haven't competed in any of the contests. I have a few finished projects (and too many, unfinished), but none that I have ever submitted anywhere.

I don't want to hijack the thread, but I just got back from a vacation (where there wasn't internet access, unfortunately) and saw the BWC #4 post at blendernation and it never mentioned qualifying, just signing up. It linked to this thread, which I "signed up" on. I guess I should have read around first. Whoops.

PLaceholder with a capital "PL"! (yeah, I'm weird...)

ok, can distant future be interpreted as distant past, as God is outside of time? (tries to think outside the box...)
