or ... get a new laptop, with an nvidia card
(I have had no end to the trouble with my radeon (desktop) card, I wonder if I can get linux working with the 2.4.20 kernel using the 3.7 drivers....) get the feeling I am annoyed by this too?

For fast-acting relief, try slowing down. |

I have an HP laptop with a ATI Mobility 7500C chipset.
When I applied XP SP1, I started having all kinds of problems with accellerated graphics. Turns out it was a quirk of SP1 interacting with a ATI's lame ass drivers. Eventually, I reimaged the machine (for other reasons) and I left XP SP1 pack off, which lets me use video properly. At any rate, I found that the problem only showed up after a suspend/hibernate and resume. Therefore, I could reboot, and still use accelerated graphics. I don't know if that will still work, but I thought I would throw it out there. -Andy
