OK. I just got Blender3D (both newer versions) last night and have not stopped playing with them. I have used the tutorials and experimented plenty. But I do have serious trouble with the program itself. Is it always this "buggy"? Getting a texture to hold is a hit or miss procedure. My computer is running 256 mb ddr ram, Athlon XP 3.0 ghz, ATI Radeon 9600XT graphics card. There is no reason this should be running this slow or buggy. Does anyone know of a very detaild tutorial other than the one on the Blender site? I need a good tutorial download with examples and/or step by step exercises. ANY help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
I am still very impressed with the program itself and would love to use it constantly!

ATI cards have consistant problems with Blender.

Do a forum search and you'll find a lot of info.

welcome!

do you experience slowdowns? i bet you are - most likely because of the ATI. blender in general is very stable and efficient at use. dont want to disencourage you, but there are problems blender running on an ATI. search these forums for ati, you'll find threads and solutions.

good luck

You mean only the console comes up? No GUI? If you do get the GUI see here:

thanks guys....i am gonna try smoe things now. i hope i can get this thing going cause it really does look impressive.

one more thing though-------
when i first open Blender there is the default cube in the center. i can put textures to it and pretty much do anything to i want with no problem. but as soo as i make my own object, i cant put textures on it. do i have to do something to any object i make to get textures to show up. the option to choose textures doesnt even show up! that so far is the only remaning problem.

You can only add a texture when you have assigned a material first. One material can 'contain' up to 8 textures.
